The release of Top Gun: Maverick has me reminiscing about one of its predecessors' less-well-known entertainment industry firsts: a VHS release made more affordable due to its first-of-its-kind bit of brand partnership. The Diet Pepsi commercial that preceded Top Gun on those early VHS tapes nods directly to the film's first act with all its code-talking and inverted flying.
As early as five years old, I found myself seeking out Top Gun hats, and now, to celebrate the release of Top Gun: Maverick I'm selling a few of them in my shop.
I personally cleaned and blocked this hat.
Details:
Navy, corduroy with embroidered "Pepsi" and "TOP GUN" logos on the front, the snapback is in new, unused condition.
These hats were originally produced by Yupoong. While its origin is unknown, it's likely these hats were produced by Pepsi to promote the release of the film on VHS.
Note: Unlike its strapback, rope hat cousin, this hat has a snapback but NO ROPE.
